CLIMATE PROTESTS AND DEMOCRACY

do we need to become more democratic?
Audience Talk & Discussion

January saw the first anniversary of the Letzte Generation resistance, and the images from Lützerath are still present in many minds. Seeing that the point of the climate protests concerns nothing less than the basis of our livelihood itself, the Heinrich Böll Foundation issues an invitation for a discussion with activists and politicians at the Foyer.

All atoms and particles in nature, in objects, and within us humanimals vibrate and resonate with each other. We vibrate in different speeds when we are in different states: in grief differently than in joy, in fear differently than in ecstasy. Siegmar Zacharias creates listening sessions during which one can listen with the whole of the body, becoming a resonating body for others.

For teyat vivan, sound researcher and activist Neha Spellfish learns her grandmothers’ dialect, which was a variant of African American Vernacular English. It emerged during the time of slave trade when Southern English and African Creole languages influenced each other in many ways. Spellfish employs the power of spoken word and acoustic collage to stimulate the physical dimension of sensual perception. An ethnolinguistic trip between invocation haunting, between philosophy and political action.
