The North Rhine-Westphalia State Office for the Independent Performing Arts issues an invitation to their traditional New Year’s Start and network gathering. The FFT Düsseldorf will host the event for the first time in 2025. This event will be held for State Office members; registration will be handled by the North Rhine-Westphalian State Office.

In keeping with the chosen motto The City We Want to Live In?, we will, following living space and public space, now consider the consumerist space. To be exact: the supermarket. At the conclusion of their first semester, the students gather for concentrated three days of concentrated work at the FFT. This time, they would like to explore the technical possibilities of communication between within and without – through the first-floor FFT Foyer windows.

Sebastian dances! And he dances die Dunkelheit (the Darkness): Despair, grief, anger – yet also party, excess, and transition. In their new choreography, simultaneously demanding as well as touching, Verena Billinger & Sebastian Schulz critically dissect the concept of “toxic masculinity”.

In our talk series in which we remember special moments from 25 FT years, we will now reminisce about the legendary staging of Adieu which Belgian choreographer Ives Thuwis developed together with ten Düsseldorf youths at the FFT in 2004 – it remains one of the most successful FFT productions to this day.
